Class #87 Body Pump Tuesday 12 noon (Reese for Kim)

If you enjoy a mid-day exercise break, you should consider checking out one of our 12 noon Body Pump classes held on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I've been attending a lot of BP sessions lately and it's been interesting to see how the various Group Ex instructors are putting their own personal stamp on the Body Pump format. It's been several weeks since the latest Body Pump release so our instructors are starting to include some segments from previous releases to add some variety. Reese Glotfelty is substituting for Kim Waguespack today and she included some nice changes for our class today.

We have about 10 participants in today and all of us are familiar with the Body Pump protocol. We have our gear assembled - risers, step, floor mat, and hand weights.

Noon classes are all about getting-in and getting-out quickly, so Reece didn't waste any time getting us warmed-up and moving through the different strength training segments. As always, we start with the larger muscle groups (legs) and work our way to the smaller muscle groups by the end of class. Reece showed us a really cool shoulder exercise called the "Arnold Press"...done with light hand weights, it's very safe and it involves a rotating military press with the arms above the shoulders and head. And yes, the Arnold Press was developed by the current Governor of California. Reece also included some calf raise exercises. Stretching my tired calf muscles felt so good with all the exercise I've been doing lately.

We moved through our 50 minutes in good order today. I'm getting better at the noon class thing. I've been a morning exerciser for the past three decades so my system is finally adjusting to exercising throughout the day. I've learned it's a good idea to have a small snack before class during the middle or latter portion of the day. It makes a significant difference in my exercising energy level.

Thanks Reece. I enjoyed your class!

Today's noon class card winner is Sue Roberson. Congratulations Sue!
