Class #89 Y.E.S. Yoga Wednesday 10:45 a.m. (Kim L. for Kathy)

I'm getting closer and closer to Group Ex Find Fred finish line. I've been missing my familiar yoga classes the past two weeks trying to stay on schedule, although it does look like it will take me 10 weeks to complete all of our classes.

I'm so looking forward to joining our Young Energetic Seniors group this morning for some relaxing yoga exercise. We're in for a treat this morning. Kim LeBlanc is our substitute instructor today and she's a top-notch Pilates instructor. Pilates is very similar to yoga and Kim did a great job leading us on a blended session this morning - part yoga, part Pilates.

First a big salute to our YES group of PAC members. These wonderful, faithful senior exercisers really support their classes and this morning we're about 15 strong as class gets underway. Kim gave us a brief rundown on how class was going to flow. This hour-long session included some new Pilates exercises that weren't familiar to our Y.E.S. yoga enthusiasts.

Pilates is a bit quicker paced than yoga, but the emphasis is the same. We focused on movements that strengthened our abdominals, improved spinal movement and control, and worked our flexibility and range of motion. Kim made sure to include some traditional yoga poses, including down dog, warrior 1 & 2, bridge pose, and chair pose.

It's always such a pleasure attending one of Kim's classes. She loves to instruct and she has the natural gift. Her athleticism and grace is inspiring. She blends the coordination of a gifted athlete with the poise of a seasoned dancer.

Wonderful class Kim!
