Class #96 Pilates Sculpt Tuesday 9:45 a.m. (Tiffoney)
I'm really starting to enjoy this Pilates stuff! I suppose it makes sense that I would, with my yoga group exercise experience. This morning I attended Tiffoney Lajuanie's hour-long Pilates Sculpt session. The PAC Mind Body Studio was full of participants, ready to go with floor mats, a stability ball, stretch bands, and the omnipresent Pilates ring (see photo), a flexible ring about the circumference of a car hubcap, used for adding more work to upper and low body Pilates exercises.
We were a diverse group today, with a good number of tennis players joining our classs after rain showers spoiled outdoor morning league play. About three days ago I stubbed my big toe while scurrying around the Club - a totally non-exercise related injury. It's been sore, but I really noticed it during this morning's class while we were doing plank poses. I shifted my weight a bit and made the best of the situation. Tiffoney had us perform a wide variety of Pilates exercises, focusing mainly on the core muscle groups. There seems to be a lot of similarities between our Pilates exercises and yoga movements, so I'm able to keep up with the program. Tiffoney does a great job with both verbal and physical cues. Even when I'm bent like a pretzel and can't see what she's doing, her verbal directions keeps me safely on task with each exercise. We fully utilize all of our gear this morning and I enjoyed our final few minutes of relaxation in the yoga shivasana pose. Sore toe and all I really enjoyed class. Pilates is definitely going to be part of my ongoing fitness routine in the future! Thanks Tiffoney!
