Class #50 Cardio Pumpin’ Tuesday 4:30 p.m. (Ingrid)
As I hit the "half century" mark this afternoon - my 50th class! To celebrate, I'm going to try my very first authentic step aerobics session in the form of Ingrid Rinck's popular Cardio Pumpin' class. It's an hour-long session combing basic step moves with some hand weight sculpting work.
As always, Ingrid had a great turnout for the class today and I was lucky to find enough Studio 1 space to set up my step/risers and hand weights. I'm a bit nervous, as I'm brand new to "step" and all my classmates are experienced and they flow easily with Ingrid's transitions. After a few minutes of step warm-up exercises, I'm getting the hang of it thanks to Ingrid's excellent leadership. Ingrid is easy to follow, even for a newbie like me. She keeps our step moves basic, with just few challenging combinations added for good measure. I really enjoyed how this class structured. We alternated high-pulse rate cardio step segments with hand weight exercises, allowing for cardio recovery while working all the major muscle groups. Towards the end of class we performed a long series of step-based lunges that I really enjoyed in a strenuous kind of way. As tough as lunges can be, they are one of the best exercises for a runner like me. We runners here in southeast Louisiana train on the flat terrain and we don't get much gluteus muscle work. Lunges are great for strengthening those important rear-end muscles! If you're not able to make the Tuesday 4:30 p.m. time for Cardio Pumpin', Ingrid also teaches this class on Friday mornings at 8:30 a.m. Lunges and all, I enjoyed Cardio Pumpin' and I learned I have nothing to fear from steps and risers! Thanks Ingrid! The PAC gift card winner this afternoon is Arlendra Zenon. Participation Honor Roll: Arlendra Zenon (gift card winner) Andrienne Ivy Susan Nogge Sandra Hogan Jacki Boudreaux Tina Marchand Devon Thompson Robyn Schorle
