Class #59 Step n’ Circuit Monday 8:45 a.m. (Kat)

This was my second Step n' Circuit class with Kat Hebert and I really enjoyed the first go-round a couple of weeks ago. I think I've honed my "step" chops during the interim and I'll put my new skills to the test in today's class. As is her custom, Kat has the Circuit Room well-organized and ready to handle two groups of exercisers. As the name of the class implies, this hour-long session involves the two groups alternating back and forth between cardio step exercises and endurance strength training on our Strive selectorized weight machines.

Like all of Kat's circuit training classes, the Monday morning version has a loyal following and it's clear to me these folks know the routine. Kat assigns us to a group and we're off to the races. We switch from cardio to strength training every three minutes and Kat does a fantastic job leading the cardio steppers while making sure the strength trainers move to three different machines during each three-minute segment. Now that's what I call multi-tasking!

Although we don't lift a heavy amount of weight on the machines, I'm amazed by how fatigued (in a good) way my targeted muscles felt after each machine. We do lots of repetitions and this creates tremendous muscle endurance.

Once again I'm very impressed with Kat's cueing and exercise demonstration abilities. She moves effortlessly through the step transitions and I'm able to follow her excellent verbal directions. We finished up with a nice five-minute stretching cool-down. What a great class - if you're looking for an efficient cardio/strength training combination, Step n' Circuit is the ticket!

The PAC gift card winner for this morning's class is Janet Gussman.
