Class #65 Spinning Thursday 5:00 a.m. (Charlie)
Rise and shine! I'm a morning person by nature and I've always enjoyed the welcoming, relaxed feeling of our Club during the very early morning hours. Charlie Hoolihan's Tuesday/Thursday 5:00 a.m. class has the distinction of being PAC's earliest Group Ex session and we couldn't have a more fun leader than Charlie. Per his custom, Charlie always has some nice music playing in the Spinning Studio as we filter in and set-up our bikes. This morning's pre-class selection is one of my very favorites of years gone by, "Amie/Falling In and Out of Love With You" by Pure Prairie League. What a nice stroll down memory lane.
It was time to clear out the sleepy cobwebs and begin our pre-dawn cycling session. Charlie announced today's class was all about "early morning speed". Charlie's game plan was simple and straight-forward - we were challenged with three eight-minute segments consisting of 20 seconds fast followed by 10 seconds of recovery intervals. Each eight-minute segment was separated by a well-deserved five-minute recovery period. Charlie encouraged us to increase our resistance just a tad with each new interval group. We finished up around 5:50 a.m. and most my classmates were ready to hit the showers and head off to the workday ahead. I'm not used to early morning speed training but I found this class very doable for all ability levels. You can't help but to have fun in any of Charlie's classes. Wonderful session Charlie! Today's early-morning PAC gift card winner is Michele Monette. Participation Honor Roll: Michele Monette (gift card winner) Mark McCoy Debbie Broussard
