Class #67 Aquacise Thursday 6:00 p.m. (Tally)

After a scorching hot day in southeast Louisiana, it's a relief to head for the PAC swimming pools and join our tight-knit group of Aquacisers for an hour of exercise! Tally Tissue is our instructor this evening and we get down to business in the 6-lane pool. It's a beautiful, but extremely warm evening.

Even with our pool aerator system working around the clock, the pool water temperature this evening is in the upper 80s. Tally starts class by reminding us to moderate our effort level if we start to feel overheated and to re-hydrate accordingly after class. Proper hydration isn't something we usually associate with water exercise but it's just as important as with any other cardio exercise session.

Turnout for Tally's Thursday evening class is strong as usual. Our group of 12 participants easily occupies three lanes of the pool. Tally is known for her great music playlist and we begin our work this evening with some fun salsa music. As class progresses, I also enjoyed some great classic tunes by The Cars and Dire Straits. Now that's what I call musical diversity!

As we make our way through the cardio portion of class this evening, I do notice that I'm working up a significant sweat while exercising in the pool! Keep in mind water exercise presents resistance in each and every direction as you move. This omni-present water resistance provides an even balanced workload to all the muscle groups of the body. We spent about 15 minutes on our water steps towards the end of class and I was bustin' some of my unique "freestylin'" moves, making myself dizzy at one point by spinning around when I shouldn't have been spinning around. Anyway, class this evening was great fun always and I really enjoy spending time with our loyal group of Aquacisers.

Thanks Tally!
