Class #70 Vinyasa Flow Yoga Saturday 10:00 a.m. (Marianne)

I'm lighting the Saturday morning candle at both ends once again. I began my early morning with a 4-mile run with the Pelican Running Club followed by an hour-long Spinning class with Charlie Hoolihan. I'll go for broke and see if I can handle a 75-minute Vinyasa Flow Yoga class with Marianne Blackburn. I made sure to eat a small snack before yoga practice to keep my energy level up. I've been practicing yoga with Marianne on Mondays and Wednesdays this year and I'm very comfortable with her yoga style.

This is another one of our very popular Saturday morning time slots and we have a great turnout for this morning's session. If I had to classify this class, it would fall in the beginner-leaning-towards-intermediate range. Because the class is a bit longer, Marianne is able to delve into some of the practice elements a bit deeper. Technically, it's not too advanced, but we work longer and harder at some of the poses and vinyasas.

Like most of our yoga classes, this morning's practice includes plenty of sun saluations, hi/lo lunges, balance work, side angle and triangle poses, and a wonderful final relaxation segment.

My legs are fatigued after running and Spinning this morning and I really feel the burn during our balance work and lunge segments. I keep the muscle cramps at bay and I'm able to make it through in good order. I'm convinced yoga has dramatically improved my core strength and balance over the past four years. My posture is better and I'm a more "symmetrical" athlete.

Marianne provided us with wonderful leadership this morning. Her delivery is clear, confident, and relaxing. I make it through my third fitness activity of the morning.
