Meet the Coaches
PAC's swim coaches are all certified by US Swimming, have Coaches Safety, CPR, First Aid certifications and have a small coach to swimmer ratio. Collectively, the coaching staff has over 40 years of coaching experience to offer to its members.
 | Charlotte Hoolihan, Aquatics Director Charlotte has been involved in aquatics since 1996 when she started Safewater Management, Inc., an aquatics management company that manages several subdivision pools in St. Tammany Parish. Safewater's mission is to create job opportunities for young adults in order for them to develop lifelong leadership skills that will enable them to be successful and productive individuals in their selected professions. After working with Pelican since 2005 overseeing their lifeguard program and swim lesson program, Charlotte was hired as Aquatics Director in November, 2008. "I am very excited to be part of Pelican's management team. I will strive to offer quality programming for our members and it is my goal to provide the most competent employees to work in an environment that is consistent year to year, well organized, healthy, safe and friendly." | | | |  | Joan Beckstrom, Director of Aquacise Joan has been teaching Aquacise at PAC for the past 10 years. Starting as a student,her love of the water inspired her to receive her Aqua certification through the Aquatic Exercise Association. She is a graduate of Tulane University and LSU Medical School, and went on to complete her residency in Internal Medicine at Ochsner Hospital. Joan brings her love of preventative medicine and her enthusism for wellness education into the pool. Additionally, she has created several innovative aqua classes at PAC including Deep Water Running, Aqua Kids, and Aqua Pilates. "Play and Laughter are essential to good heath and help us to just keep moving!" | | | |  | Cary Stickles, Head Swim Coach Cary is a Baton Rouge native who swam competitively for 12 years before deciding to persue his coaching career. Cary worked in the food service industry for 10 years before returning to his true passion of working with kids and coaching. Cary is currently a ASCA level 2 coach and continues to attend seminars and conferences to further his education. Janice has taught and coached in the St. Tammany Parish School system for 20 years. She has taught swim lessons for approximately 25 years, spending the last 11 years at PAC. Her reputation as a premier swim lesson instructor has followed her across St. Tammany Parish. She is certified in American Red Cross Lifeguard Instruction, CPR Instruction, and Water Safety Instruction.

Cathy has been swimming competitively since she was 5 years old. She is well acquainted with the impact that swimming can make on a person's life with experience in teaching swim lessons and coaching swim teams as well as managing swim programs. For the past four years she has worked at PAC both teaching swim lessons and coaching various aspects of the year round swim team program. She is certified in American Red Cross Lifeguard Instruction, CPR Instruction, and Water Safety Instruction.
